In my PhD-thesis, I examine the role of lipid hydrolases in the regulation of placental lipid homeostasis, aiming to identify their specific function under normal and inflammatory conditions.
My research interest focuses on placental diacylglycerol lipase α and β (DAGLα/β). These enzymes generate 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), one of the main endocannabinoids and precursor of the essential fatty acid arachidonic acid (AA), which are both substrates for pro-inflammatory pathways. I investigate the abundancy of DAGL isoforms and their function in the inflammatory condition of the pregnancy-related disease preeclampsia.
