My field of research are placental macrophages and their interaction with other placental cell types.

Specifically, I investigate how placental macrophages contribute to tissue remodeling and angiogenesis in the growing placenta throughout pregnancy. Appropriate fetal growth is highly dependent on an adequate placental vasculature, making such investigations worthwhile and physiologically relevant considering pregnancy pathologies associated with either fetal growth restriction (e.g. in pre-eclampsia) or overgrowth (e.g. in gestational diabetes mellitus).
